This view is from the east and the highest part of the site. In the left foreground, part way up the hill, is a reservoir surrounded by uncrushed spoil and to the right is the crushed spoil tip. Behind it on lower ground is the pond and beside it the crushing machinery. In the centre is the workshop. In the midle distance can be seen another working, causing a scar on the landscape.
A Reservoir
This stone reservoir is built into the side of the hill. There is no indication of how it was filled and no obvious way of taking water from it. It is possible that it was siphoned out. There are some part buried iron pipes running down the hill. The water would have been used to drive the waterwheel as well as washing the ore.
The Remains of a Reservoir
This appears to be the remains of another reservoir or similar structure. Why or how it was destroyed is not known.
Further up the hill were a number of mine shafts which have been fenced for safety.
A Mine Shaft
The building over the top of this mine shaft has fallen or been pushed into the shaft.
Another Mine Shaft
Another fenced off mine shaft. It is not known how deep they are. It is also not known how the sides were prevented from falling in.
Rubbish
The fence around this one has been pulled down and the area used as a rubbish dump. With all that has been dumped it is difficult to be certain but this looks more like a level than a shaft. In the distance a bird can be seen. Shortly after the photograph was taken it soared over and it was clear that it was a red kite. Unfortunately it flew off before it could be photograped.
